Serve Your Community. Be Part of the Team.

Redfield Fire Department is a volunteer fire department made up of people who live and work right here in the community.

Our firefighters are neighbors, coworkers, parents, and friends answering the call when help is needed most.

You don’t need prior fire experience to join. You just need the willingness to learn, show up, and serve your community.

Who Can Join Redfield Fire?

We’re looking for motivated, self-driven individuals who want to help their community thrive.

To join, you must:

  • Be 18 years or older
(16+ for our Junior Firefighter Program)

  • Live within approximately 8 miles of town, or be employed in town

  • Be dependable, motivated, and willing to learn

  • Have a desire to help others and work as part of a team

If you’re not sure whether you qualify, reach out. We’re happy to talk it through.

What Does Being a Volunteer Firefighter Look Like?

Volunteering with Redfield Fire is about more than emergency calls, it’s about preparation, teamwork, and community.

As a volunteer firefighter, you can expect to:

  • Respond to approximately 200 calls per year

  • Participate in regular training and drills

  • Balance service with family and work responsibilities

  • Support fire suppression, rural calls, vehicle accidents, and mutual aid responses

  • Be part of a close-knit team that relies on one another

This is real service, done by real people, not a movie version of firefighting.

Training & Support

No experience? No problem. Redfield Fire provides:

Training for new members
Ongoing education and certifications
All necessary gear and equipment
Support from experienced firefighters who help mentor new members

You will never be asked to do something you’re not trained or prepared for. Safety for our firefighters and the public always comes first.

Junior Firefighter Program

We offer a Junior Firefighter Program for individuals 16 years and older who are interested in learning about the fire service.

The program helps young members:

  • Learn the basics of fire service and emergency response

  • Build responsibility, teamwork, and leadership skills

  • Gain experience in a structured, supervised environment

  • Prepare for potential future membership in the department

This program is a great opportunity for motivated young people who want to serve their community and explore a future in public service.
