The Future of Redfield Fire
Redfield Fire Department has proudly served this community for decades from our current fire station.
That building has helped us answer thousands of calls and protect countless lives and properties.
But the needs of our department, and our community, have changed.
To continue providing safe, effective fire protection for the next generation, we must plan for the future.

Our Current Station Has Served Its Purpose
Our current fire station was built in the early 1980s. At the time, it met the needs of the department and the community.
Today, it presents real challenges:
-
Limited space for modern apparatus and equipment
-
Vehicles stacked multiple layers deep, slowing response times
-
Little room for training, especially during winter months
-
No dedicated space for proper gear cleaning and decontamination
-
No room to grow as the community and department evolve
-
A landlocked site that cannot be expanded
The building has served us well, but it was never designed for the demands of modern fire service or future growth.
Why a New Fire Station Matters
A new fire station isn’t about appearances.
It’s about safety, efficiency, and readiness.
A modern facility would allow Redfield Fire to:
-
Improve response times by eliminating apparatus congestion
-
Safely clean and decontaminate gear after calls
-
Train indoors without moving trucks in harsh weather
-
Provide proper space for equipment storage and maintenance
-
Support EMS operations alongside fire services
-
Prepare for potential full-time staffing in the future
-
Serve the community more effectively for the next 40+ years
This is about building a station that meets today’s standards and tomorrow’s needs.
Built for the Next Generation
Fire service standards, equipment, and safety practices have evolved significantly since our current station was built. A new station would allow us to:
-
Protect firefighters from long-term exposure to contaminants
-
Improve operational efficiency during emergencies
-
Create space for training, administration, and reporting
-
Build infrastructure that adapts as our community grows
We’re not building for today alone. We’re building for the firefighters, residents, and families who will depend on this department decades from now.

Project Status & Planning
The New Fire Station Project is being led by a building committee made up of Redfield firefighters. Current progress includes:
This project is expected to take place over multiple phases and will require thoughtful planning, community support, and time.

A Community Effort
Fire protection is a shared responsibility between the department and the community it serves.
As planning continues, we are committed to:
-
Being transparent with information and progress
-
Keeping the community informed
-
Making responsible decisions that reflect long-term needs
-
Building a facility that Redfield can be proud of
More details will be shared as the project develops.
